Regional phase of the 9th Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad held in Dhaka
Al-Arafah Islami Bank 9th Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad (BDJSO 2023) regional phase held in Dhaka to select the Bangladesh team for the 20th International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO 2023) to be held in Thailand. Around 540 students participated in this regional phase. Dhaka Regional Olympiad was held at Udayan Higher Secondary School of Dhaka University. The program started with the national anthem at nine in the morning. Later, the participants announced the opening of the Olympiad by flying balloons. After that, the students took part in the exam for 1 hour and 15 minutes. This year regional phase of BDJSO was held in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Netrakona and in online mode. Apart from this, school Olympiad has been held in 14 upazilas of the country.
Dhaka Regional Olympiad was inaugurated by Zahura Begum, Principal of Udayan Higher Secondary School. General Secretary of Bangladesh Science Popularization Association Dr. Farseem Mannan Mohammadi, Bangladesh Freedom Foundation Executive Director Sajjadur Rahman Chowdhury, and Al-Arafah Islami Bank Senior Vice President Jalal Ahmed. It was presided over by Munir Hasan, Vice President of Bangladesh Science Popularization Association.
List of winners of all regional rounds and School Olympiad including Dhaka regional round is available on BDJSO website (www.bdjso.org ). This year the winners of four regional rounds, Online Olympiad and School Olympiad will participate in the national round held in Dhaka. Then the 9th BDJSO camp will be held with the winners of the national phase. The extension camp will be organized with the best of the BDJSO camp. The Bangladesh team of six members will be selected from there for the 20th International Junior Science Olympiad to be held in December in Thailand.
BDJSO is jointly organized by Bangladesh Science Popularization Society (SPSB), Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF) and National Museum of Science and Technology. The title sponsor of the event is Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited. Dainik Prothom Alo and MasLab are partners. Kishore Alo and Bigyanchinta are Magazine partner. Local organizers are Mason, Abaya and Khulna District Unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.
